Beach Bums

Sure, I’ve been sailing in SL before but today I got an awesome taste of what it’s really like. My friend Tucker and I set out on the Blake Sea and spent a couple of hours battling the wind and waves as we traversed through the open water. Did you know that some sailboats are actually designed to interact with the SL wind system? It makes for a truly authentic experience. And boy, was it fun! We even dropped anchor at a little inlet and did some sunbathing.

Afterwards, we returned home and had a picnic lunch on the beach. Mostly, I was just working on my tan before we had to head off for work but the weather sure was nice. As I’ve scaled back on my blogging quite a bit and have focused more on enjoying SL, it’s been a huge eye opener for me as I’ve begun to see all of the fun things there are to do!

Summer Lovin’

I hope ya’ll are enjoying the Summer season so far! I for one love the heat and I am so excited that it’s really only just getting started. If only the rest of the craziness in the world would come to an end, there’s a possibility we might actually get to enjoy it!

On a sad note though, this years round of Summerfest will soon be coming to a close. With only a few more shopping days left, if you haven’t stopped by to pick up some fun summer goodies, you might want to do so before it’s too late.

I was able to snag some great loot that I couldn’t possibly fit all into one picture, so I’m sure you’ll see more of it as the season progresses. But in the mean time, allow me to show you what I’ve had time to enjoy so far!

Some Like it Hot

I’ve been insanely busy at work and so I haven’t had a chance to post much in the last couple of weeks. I’ve been counting down the days until vacation, so with any luck, in two weeks I’ll be able to get some much needed rest. Let’s just say these 3 hours of sleep per night are gonna start catching up to me!

Life in the new community is going great! It’s pretty often that places like Cedar Creek get picked on for any number of things, but I’ve been there for over a month now and if anything, it’s more than obvious that people either like to whine for no reason or have little to no creativity when it comes to RP. And yes, I’m talking to all you tea drinkers. Grab a cup of coffee and come have some real fun!

With that being said, I got this new lighter from Lavish at Equal10 and thought I would give a shout out to all the fun Fire Department and MCSO people that have made things so much fun in the last couple of weeks. I promise I won’t burn anything down! :D

Chillax

I don’t know why I waited so long to adopt this new outlook for my SLife. I am having a blast! I still never thought I would have ever joined an RP-style community, but I am so glad I did. Not only have I already made some incredible friends in the last few weeks, but I’m also having all sorts of interesting adventures.

I’ve worn a lot of casual stuff lately as I wander through town not getting into trouble, but I really wanted to show off these new sneaker-style booties from Scandalize and Ariana dress from Cynful. They both have a similar tufted/quilted sort of pattern on them that go great together. I’ve actually worn them for quite a few days, I’m afraid my neighbors might start questioning my hygiene.

In any case, it has been nice to take a step back from blogging. Don’t get me wrong, I still love every moment of it. But not having the deadlines and getting to post at my leisure is, admittedly, really nice. Of course, I couldn’t help but apply to blog for an event that ya’ll know I’ve <3’d every year. Not So Delicate

Is it me or does it feel like Uber is one of the hardest monthly events to get into? I mean, if there is something that I just have to have, I activate my teleport HUD and go afk to make a cup of coffee. And chances are when I get back I am still trying, banging my fists on the teleport screen to let me in. Most of the time though, I wait the almost required three days before even attempting to get into the cam shopping sim.

If you are a frequent shopper of events, please consider being courteous. As in, get your shit and get out. Don’t camp, don’t go afk once you’re in and for the love of God, keep your laggy attachments at home. I kid you not, I saw someone at Kustom9 on opening day riding around on a floating ball of fluff (it was a chibi of some sort). So not necessary. You don’t need to look cute when you go to a packed event. I promise you, we’re not looking at you or your fairy wings, or your 17 scripted accessories that are lagging the entire sim.

Oh, and event sim owners- a homestead is not your friend! A full region or more (possibly even cam shopping) is a must. Please don’t piss off the customer by having an event that no one can get into. Fortunately, the majority of the big events are set up to accommodate the needs of their clients but I’m still throwing that out there, ya know?

Anyway, I grabbed some really nice finds at the Uber event this month, so now that the initial rush of the opening day has passed, it’s definitely worth a look!

Soul Searching

I love everything about the water and I find myself so fortunate to live in a place where I am surrounded by it. There are endless stretches of beach, piers and seawall within walking distance and one of my favorite things to do is sit on the edge of the wall and watch the sun set over the water. Even in SL, there is a unique charm in finding places that give off that same tranquil feel.

If you’re looking for a home in SL, I’ve always felt that it should be a place that is both versatile and beautiful. The Soul2Soul sims are a cluster of themed locations with scenic landscapes and available rentals. I frequent them quite often and even though I don’t rent one of their parcels, the locations are still amazing places to explore and hangout.

Good morning!

I have horrible luck with men. I mean… horrible. They’re either lying about why they’re here, living a double life, never around or are too controlling. Granted, I’m no angel. But maybe it’s that the perfect guy just doesn’t exist? In any case, whenever I go through a breakup that goes south, I try to find a silver lining of sorts to help get me over that hurdle.

Using it as a creative outlet is as good a way as any, so when I woke up this morning I decided to have a little fun to go with my new SL approach. I really don’t take a lot of selfies in lingerie. I’m a bit of a prude when it comes to public nudity. So aside from the fact that this new set from Tetra is super cute, I figured- what the hell? I’m adventurous and after all, it’s only the SL me up there. What have I got to lose?

Just Smile

I went out and did some exploring today, scouting for some new hang outs and hopeful scenic backdrops and lo and behold, I came across Kaelyn’s ‘It All Starts With a Smile‘ sim. I’ve been frequenting this destination on and off for gosh, the last seven years or so and I was excited to see that it hadn’t gotten lost in the ether that so many other SL sims seem to do.

When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the woodsy atmosphere as it is what I just recently moved into over at Cedar Creek. So naturally, I spent some time exploring and finding all the nooks and crannies among the trails and beautiful waterfalls. I was also surprised to see that IASWAS has expanded it’s venue to include eight privately leased parcels. The fact that there is still a huge portion of the sim for guests to explore earns mucho kudos.

All in all if you are looking to rent a parcel on Eventide South, your best bet is to join the inworld group and wait for something to open up, but something tells me that openings might be few and far between. Perhaps a second sim could be a possibility in the future? Nevertheless, even if you can’t grab a rental, IASWAS is still worth some time. Also, be sure to check out their website for current events and a bit of fun.

LOCATION @ It All Starts With a Smile

Have you ever seen one of those memes about shacking up in a remote destination for some sort of incentive? Yeah, epic fail. With everything that is going on in the world right now, I can only laugh at the irony. I mean, it’s painfully obvious that few people can even remotely handle the implications of those memes. Heck, they can’t even handle staying inside to save their own lives.

We’ve either acted or have seen someone acting cray cray these last few months, and with good reason. Quarantine life is no fun. But, it’s obviously necessary and I don’t believe I stand alone when I say we are all in desperate need of a little vacation from this madness.

With that being said, I’m hosting a quarantine contest. It is open to all Second Life residents and runs from now until Saturday, June 6th. To enter, all you need to do is capture your best SL quarantine moment. The subject can be whatever your heart desires, as long as it tells a story of what life has been like for you in the last few weeks. Entries may also include a description as to why you deserve to win, but this is not mandatory.

Cedar Creek

A few weeks ago, it was suggested that community life might be worth trying out. Now if someone would have told me that a couple of years ago, I wouldn’t have given it a second thought. But seeing as how I am trying a new approach to my SL, I decided to give it a shot.

Cedar Creek Township is an RP community with 14 sims of beautiful commercial and residential property and an amazing group of people. In the passed couple of weeks as I’ve explored the town and checked things out, I found myself in the midst of some amazing scenarios. A storm system complete with torrential rains and flash floods, a shark on the lose and fires breaking out all over town. It was quite riveting to watch the efforts of the locals running search and rescue and taking care of one another.

I am already excited to be making new friends and I’ve even gotten off the waiting list and rented a beautiful craftsman style home. I can’t wait to start decorating and get more involved in community life. Heh, who would have thought: me, a girl in the suburbs?
